Queen Street tunnel track slab renewal
The works involved the removal of the existing track slab system, which was 40 years old and life expired, and installation of new track slab system within Queen Street Tunnel. The project was part of a larger project of works at Queen Street as part of the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP). During the course of the project, over 10,000 tonnes of existing concrete and rock were removed, placement of over 2500m3 of concrete and installation of 3km of new drainage; all of which were delivered ahead of programme.
CDM felt privileged to be involved in such a high profile and prestigious project.
John MacArthur, Rail Director (Scotland) for Story Contracting offered the following words on our performance on this project;
“Martin, Thank you for all your support in helping with our delivery of the slab track works in the Queen Street Tunnel. This has been an extremely challenging scheme however we are all extremely proud of the collaborative way in which these works were managed. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
