Course Announcement: Industrial Ergonomics for Managers

Course Announcement Industrial Ergonomics for Managers

New Online Industrial Ergonomics for Managers Course

We’re pleased to introduce Industrial Ergonomics Training for Managers, a new online course designed to help organisations reduce injury rates and improve efficiency in industrial workplaces.

This IIRSM-approved course equips managers and team leaders with the tools to identify, assess and control ergonomic risks in industrial settings.

Course users first learn about ergonomics – the science of adapting tools, tasks, and environments to workers’ capabilities – before moving on to its practical application in industrial workplaces.

By the end of the course, users will be able to analyse work and evaluate risk factors such as posture, repetition and force, and use ergonomic principles to make tasks easier and, therefore, safer for all workers.

Why Is Industrial Ergonomics Training for Managers Important?

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the second leading cause of work-related ill-health in the UK, according to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Last year alone, 543,000 workers suffered from MSDs, resulting in a loss of almost 8 million working days.

Most MSDs develop gradually, caused by repetitive movements, awkward postures and physically demanding tasks. Because these potential injury risks are familiar, they’re often overlooked, resulting in high injury rates, absences and associated costs for many industrial workplaces.

You can prevent these outcomes with good ergonomics – adjustments to tasks, tools and workstations that reduce the strain, fatigue and discomfort that lead to long-term ill health and extended time off.

Industrial Ergonomics for Managers provides the knowledge needed to analyse and improve the ergonomics of real work. It introduces a step-by-step approach to identifying ergonomic hazards, assessing risk and implementing proportionate controls that improve safety without disrupting operations.

By applying this framework, managers can reduce injury risks and related downtime while supporting productivity through safer, more sustainable work design.
